About
S’more is a 22-year-old Bahamian artist who specializes in digital and traditional acrylic on canvas art. Their work is influenced by fairy tales, cartoons and Asian animation, that explores themes of embracing different body types and disabilities, viewing the world and people through a fantasy lens and embracing childhood and childlike things that bring comfort and joy. S’more has received ‘Honours’ and the ‘National Winner Award’ for mixed media in the community category of the 2023 E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival. Their current practice focuses on inclusive and representative character designs and character art.
I create digital and traditional acrylic on canvas art as a form of self-expression, acceptance and experimentation. My works explore themes of fantasy, disability, body diversity, femininity, blackness, childishness, and self-discovery and acceptance. I primarily use character art and design to convey feelings of joy, child-like wonder and awe, and acceptance of differences both internal and external. Through my art I hope that viewers will feel comfortable and welcomed in both their body and identity and are able to experience childlike joy and wonder through fantasy.
